Watched this song from the 1973 movie 'Shareef Badmash' starring Dev Anand and Hema Malini. Another of those highly romantic songs with a liberal dose of passion, coming from the girl this time. Super stuff from R.D. Burman again.
The video is different though from what I had visualised from the song on the radio back then. The sizzling sounds of something red hot happening, the female lead going on about 'and ang mera phut gaya chingari' and 'dard bahut sah baithee, door bahut reh baithee' are a far cry from a gentle walk in the meadows with snow capped mountains in the background. And not to forget an expressionless and ice cold Hema Malini going about on nonchalantly with her job, tightly wound up in a saree like an Egyptian mummy. She looks great though, wooden expressions and all. Dev Anand runs away from her for most of the song and they hardly touch one another what with him saying 'aisi bhi kya jaldi hai'. One can sympathise with his predicament what with Hema's intimidating attire. But the song itself is fine to watch and listen.
